Mr. Jerry’s Big Bang Experiment

Mr. Jerry shared a mini-lesson on electrical energy with our class. He explained the origins of the Leyden Jar and its use for storing electrical energy. Leyden Jars were used in the mid-1700s and was the first device capable of holding an electrical charge. Modern day usage of these types of devices can be seen with the use of capacitors that can be found anywhere from microwaves to computers.  Mr. Jerry demonstrates a rapid release of approximately 400 volts of electricity from his capacitor bank.  Thank you, Mr. Jerry, for sharing this fun science lesson with the 6th grade!
