Bridging Content Areas With Geometric Art

Central Idea- Religion Influences The Modern World.

Last week, students had the opportunity to create geometric designs that were inspired by traditional Islamic art. We learned about the different colors used and the symbolic meanings with which they are associated. Continuing on this creative motif, students visited the Maker Lab, where Mr. Jerry helped them to create their own 3-dimensional geometric polygons using the TinkerCAD software. (Thanks, Mr. Jerry!) Students had the task of creating a shape with a surface area greater than or equal to 3,000 square millimeters and less than or equal to 6,000 square millimeters. It was a challenging but fun learning engagement.

Elias was quite proud of his design. 🙂Where does the blue go again? Hmmm….Wow, Lily and Kylee were quite excited!Back to being serious.
Give me a “T” for TOBIAS!
Now, what was that formula for the area of a triangle again?  OH YEAH!  BH1/2=AWow, Alayzia’s polygon has a natural camouflaging technique that helps it to blend in with the wall in the Maker Lab.Mr. Jerry giving a crash course in TinkerCAD.Garret does not like having his focus broken. 🙂
