Each trimester, 6th graders choose a personal book on which to complete a book project. Students have a variety of types of projects they can choose from. I check in with students regularly to discuss their books and their project’s progress. It is very important to me that students have the opportunity to learn to love reading and I feel that having a choice in what they are reading is crucial in helping achieve that end. Garret recently read Prisoner B-3087. He chose to create a model of the prison camps where the main character, Yanek, was held before his rescue. Garret wrote a description of each camp and then discussed the story in more detail with his classmates. Good job, Garret!
This book is amazing! I’m so proud of Garret.
