Columbus Excursion

Monday, April 10th, we went on an excursion to Columbus, Ohio. Part of our exhibition process is to use art. Students had the opportunity to meet project voice poet Elizabeth Acevedo, who shared her “spoken word” poetry with us.  You can check out an example of Liz’s poetry by clicking on this link.  We were open minded at North Market where students sampled some of the different foods offered by 35 different vendors.  We explored the various specialty shops in the Short North Arts District.  While visiting Global Gifts, Amy, a staff member, shared with us how their business operates with a fair trade policy to help directly support artisans from more than 40 different countries. On the way home, the boys and I made a very brief stop at the Ohio History Connection museum, where we had just enough time for a quick photo with a mastodon.  It was a great day.

“Don’t do it, Ben!” shouted Brooklyn as Gavin completed his zombie transformation for the second time that day.
