Finding the constant via Hook’s Law

Mathematics has taught us that a constant is a fixed value. Thanks to Mr. Jerry, the sixth graders had the opportunity to use Hook’s Law to determine the constant while experimenting with weights attached to springs. Students first began the experiment using one spring and then utilized two springs to see how their constant changed. Students ran five trials for each category and graphed their results.  Mr. Jerry showed us how he uses the Scratch program to create a graph.
